Literature was the first period for the day. All of us hoped we would get back our literature essays which we failed to receive the previous lesson. In the end, Mr. Tan did not come as he was absent from school. It was a bittersweet feeling; bitter because we could not get back our literature essays, and sweet because we could do anything during those two periods. Our happiness was short-lived as we had to do worksheets on the subject. Most of the class did not care about doing the worksheets as usual and talked amongst one another. To our surprise, Mr. Maran suddenly came into the class and reprimanded us on not doing the worksheets which led to many other topics.
During Mother Tongue, we had to do a graded TFU assignment but we did not have enough time to complete it. All of us were afraid that the teacher would just mark the uncompleted assignments and we prayed desperately that that would not occur. Maths seemed to pass rather quickly as we learnt the slightly complicating algebraic identities concept. It was a long time before the whole class fully grasped the concepts. Ms. Lim was also a major contributor to our weekend homework; she gave us lots and lots of homework.
History was one of the best periods of the day. When Mr. Thiru realised how ahead we were in the learning of the different chapters, even he was amazed that he managed to teach so quickly. History was also filled with funny moments from the start to finish. For example, Gavin said something once in Chinese. Because of that, he got punished but in a humorous and interesting way that the whole class was ringing with the sounds of laughter. The period ended off with us finishing the YouTube version of a Discovery Channel documentary on the History of Singapore. What a marvellous way to end off the week!
CCA was tiring and I have a rather neutral view towards it. It was rather intensive as we were training for an upcoming competition. And I ended off the day with a relaxing game on Wii, which was my special moment doing something I enjoyed. A perfect example of a good balance of work and play!
